Stranded boat tow service into Bodega Bay

An 85-foot fishing boat that became stranded off the Mendocino County towing companies coast was towed into Bodega Bay on Friday night, a Coast Guard spokesman said.

The Emerald Sea, a San Francisco-based fishing trawler, was stranded about 7 KM off Gualala sometime Thursday night, Petty Officer Ross Ellis said.

Coast Guard ships from Bodega Bay and San Francisco respond, towing the vessel more than 30 miles in a near 24-hour rescue action, he said.

It was greet at Spud Point Marina by dozens of curious onlookers who snap pictures, Ellis said.
The boat had been head to Oregon for repairs when it suffered a fuel problem, he said.
